Welded and Threaded Ball Valves

Ball valves are used in installations with various purposes – heating, gas, and water, both for hot and cold water. These types of components are characterized by simple construction, high tightness, easy installation, and long-term durability, which makes them widely applicable in many systems.

Construction and operation of threaded ball valves

Regardless of the type of installation where a threaded ball valve is installed, its construction and operation resemble those of flanged ball valves. This component is equipped with a rotating ball with a passage, which is responsible for opening and closing the flow. This simple solution is characterized by both high tightness and easy operation.

To ensure that the threaded ball valve operates efficiently and safely for the entire building, it’s essential to select the appropriate component based on the installation’s properties. The diameter of the pipes is particularly important. The valve must perfectly match their dimensions to prevent pressure changes in the system, which can lead to leaks and other issues. One-inch valves are most commonly used, but numerous other variants are available—elements in sizes such as 1/2″, 3/4″, 5/8″, 1 and 1/4″, 1 and 1/2″, and 1/2″ x 1/2″

Threaded ball valve

Threaded ball valves are characterized by high durability and safe operation, making them essential for the efficient functioning of many installations. They are primarily used in systems responsible for hot and cold water drainage, but there’s no obstacle to using them in gas installations or central heating systems. Their design allows for convenient, safe shut-off, and flow restoration. A significant advantage of threaded ball valves is their simple installation. Additionally, threading or welding reduces the impact of external factors on the valve—making it more resistant to corrosion, contact with air and chemicals, or changes in atmospheric conditions.

Welded ball valve

The welded ball valve is used in both indoor and outdoor installations. It’s characterized by high resistance to external factors, mechanical damage, and changing weather conditions. Like the threaded ball valve, the welded ball valve should primarily be matched with other elements of the system. It can be suitable for water or heating installations, and its reinforced construction ensures consistent pressure and a low risk of failures or malfunctions.

Threaded ball valves – price and method of selection

Purchasing a threaded or welded ball valve is an investment for the long term. Therefore, it’s worthwhile to carefully consider the choice of a specific model, considering several important factors. One of the most crucial factors is the pipe diameter, which must perfectly match the valve’s dimensions. Equally important is the type of installation itself. When it comes to ball valves, it’s important to pay attention to the colors of the handles, allowing for quick identification of the specific element’s purpose. Valves with red handles are typically installed in systems for hot water, while blue handles are used in setups with cold water. Yellow, on the other hand, is commonly used for gas installations. The price varies depending on the dimensions and the intended use of the product—it can range from a dozen to several hundred złoty.
