Choke Expansion Joints

Choke expansion joints are components used in industrial network installations where bulk materials, water, or steam are transported. They are primarily used to absorb small displacements relative to different planes. In the GTM Process Valves product range, you can find high-quality choke expansion joints adapted for use in energy, mining, and metallurgy industries.

Choke Expansion Joint

Choke expansion joints have a wide range of applications in the energy, mining, and metallurgy industries. However, their use extends beyond these sectors and can be found in various other industries. When purchasing, it’s important to consider the manufacturing standard, which largely depends on the materials used. In the GTM Process Valves product range, the use of ST3S, R35, and 18G2A steel combined with stainless steel makes the product extremely durable and resistant to various factors. This also translates into the ability to maintain key functional properties of the product.

Resistance to extreme pressure is one of the distinguishing features of such a design. Expansion joints are primarily installed in pipelines and piping systems. Due to their construction, continuous supervision is necessary. Such structures should be installed in easily accessible locations where servicing can be carried out without difficulty when needed.

How are choke expansion joints constructed?

The construction of an expansion joint is uncomplicated – the design mainly consists of a connection and a body. The first of these elements allows the entire unit to be connected to the installation or pipeline system, while the body is composed of standardized pipes, typically steel in this case. A part of the body also includes a cup, which is a component of the expansion joint with a larger diameter. Inside the structure, there is also a special restraining ring, whose task is to provide resistance for the seal. Each of the expansion joints in the GTM Process Valves range is characterized by axial compensation at the level of +/- 150 mm.

Gland extensions

Gland extensions are another term for choke expansion joints. The application of products referred to by this name is identical. Choke extensions primarily enable the absorption of large axial displacements in systems, allowing for the construction of pipelines or piping installations with high stability and tightness. Additionally, they are used to connect elements of systems with different diameters.

Flangeless gland extensions stand out due to their mounting method. They are not equipped with a flange – therefore, they can only be installed using special components such as welding sleeves.

Choke compensators – application

Choke expansion joints are primarily used in industrial networks where bulk materials, water, or steam are the working fluids. They are often used as an alternative to expansion joints made of corrugated pipes. Their functionality also includes accommodating axial displacements and facilitating the connection of different pipes. Such components should be installed in easily accessible locations due to the frequency of required servicing.
