Swing Check Valve
These are solutions designed for demanding installations where one hundred percent reliability and full control of the system’s operation are essential. The swing check valve must be characterized by high-quality craftsmanship that ensures the safe operation of the entire system. Check valves are suitable for gas networks or water installations—both for cold and hot water—as well as in systems where the working medium is steam.
Swing check valve – construction
Swing check valves are designed to operate in installations requiring the flow of media in a specific direction. They are constructed to enable automatic control of the system’s operation, for instance, by continuously monitoring pressure in relevant parts of the system. Such products prove effective wherever significant force isn’t required. A specific flow rate of the medium is adequate to open the valve and release pressure, ensuring that water or air consistently moves in a specified direction.
A swing check valve should be made of durable materials to provide sufficient protection against external factors. In most cases, the body of these elements is made of cast iron, carbon steel, or stainless steel. Various metals, EPDM rubber, or even Teflon can be found in the internal parts of the construction.
Swing Check Valve – principle of operation
The operation of a swing check valve is quite simple: it relies on what’s called the check flap. Its position adjusts according to the pressure differential on either side. When the pressure in front of the flap is higher than behind it, the flap automatically tilts, allowing the working fluid to flow freely. However, if the pressure is too low, the valve closes.
Globe or check valve – what to choose?

Zawór zwrotny klapowy do wody dobrze sprawdza się tam, gdzie dostęp do rur będzie utrudniony – na przykład przy pralkach czy zmywarkach.
Swing or spring plate check valve?
The next type of check valve is the spring valve. This solution is particularly suitable for installations characterized by high power. The springs within the valve require a strong medium that, with its movement, enables the operation of the entire valve. Such components are often used, for example, in boiler or radiator installations.
Parameters of swing check valves
Swing check valves are primarily installed in larger diameter pipes. They can be found in gas, thermal, and water installations. The operating temperature range of these valves is from -30°C up to +300°C, allowing them to be seamlessly installed in both indoor and outdoor setups. When selecting a valve, the main consideration should be its size. The most commonly used variants include:
- check valve 1/2″ (DN 15),
- check valve fi 50 (2 inch),
- check valve 3 inch (DN 80),
- check valve DN 100(4 inch).
